What and Why Parents Care about?
No matter which level of the curriculum quality provided by the school or individual face-to-face/ online lessons at home, parents always strive to help their children in science mastering.
Research shows that people around the world most of all worry about children’s success in mathematics, and we know why: the foundation of many areas of manufacturing and business is mathematics and related disciplines. The success of future employees in these fields depends precisely on their proficiency in math skills. This was noticed by Singaporean scientists, who developed a special curriculum that propelled the country to the leading position in the economy in a matter of years. Last year (2020) there was a global growth of the Singapore Math online program demand far beyond Singapore.
Alongside an effective learning strategy, the program gained recognition among parents because they could help their children without the pressure of short deadlines and cramming (it’s designed for the deep understanding of each section by using a philosophical approach)
There are several ways adults can support children in their learning process, and here are 4 steps parents can do together with kids for better productivity of them.
Step 1:
First of all, explore the Singapore Math program, both in-person and online versions, to understand all the features of lessons, placement test, and approach at whole. You must be ready for the child’s questions addressed to you and you should be able to answer them.
Step 2:
Create a cozy atmosphere in the “classroom”. Set your child up for success and motivate him/ her to study not as something obligatory, but as an exciting long-term adventure. Remove distractions, but avoid dullness: this will help to keep the mood of fun.
Sometimes you can change your “classroom’s” location. For Example, move from the living room to the kitchen to avoid developing an association of a part of the house with the severity of an educational process.
Step 3:
Offer your own assumptions and hypotheses about how to solve a particular problem or equation. This will help your child to see much more options, which will broaden his/ her vision and perception.
Step 4:
Tell interesting stories related to eSingapore Math out of study time. This will provide an impression that math is not just a school discipline, but a learning strategy that is important for the present and future. In this way, you subtly contribute to the development of the awareness of the importance of quality education.
So Simple?
Maybe this will seem very simple to parents who are faced with children’s education for the first time. However, this is a difficult path and the greatest thing parents can do for their children is constant psychological support, both in case of success and difficulties.
